Buy Nothing Day is an international days of protest against consumerism observed by social activists. Typically celebrated the Friday after the American thanksgiving in North America and the following day internationally. The dates are November 25 and 26 respectively. It was founded in Vancouver by an artist name Ted Dave and subsequently promoted by ad busters magazine, based in Canada. The first Buy Nothing Day was organized in Mexico in September 1992 "as a day for society to examine the issue of over consumption. In the year 1997, it was moved to the Friday after American Thanksgiving Day also called "Black Friday". Black Friday is known as one of the top ten busiest shopping days in the United States. Its one of the busiest days, because things are alot more cheaper than they are on a normal shopping day. However, buy nothing day outside of north america and Israel, is on the following Saturday.
On Buy Nothing Day, people do other activities besides shop, they exactly buy nothing. They go hiking to celebrate the earth and nature. Buy nothing day paddle, people paddle along the San Francisco waterfront. It is promoted by the Bay Area Kayakers to kayak along the notoriously consumptive San Francisco waterfront.

There are a lot of things can happen to our economy because of climate change. Because of climate changes in the world, there is potential impact on our personal economy. The personal impact on the economy is that we will have to spend much more money to deal with everything that is happening with the climate change occurring, and also using money towards the need of climate changes could affect us a lot because we are losing money on something we can save by not letting the climate change occur. In life we will have some economic challenges or difficulties that could go way beyond agriculture and food production. Because of this, it will cause some of the greatest problems and damages due to climate change. In example, the heat related illness and deaths could possibly affect the medical system and labor market. The climate changes will cause major floods, which may cause some damage in some areas like New York City the people say. New York City is a large Market, Affecting New York can affect the economy badly, and cause another Economic break down. There are storms that are called 100-year storm because it passes every 100 years. It is soon to be occurring as of every 10 years by late in this century due to climate changes. Which will affect places like the lower Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and the Nassau County. These places would experience an increase frequency for floods. All this climate changes would affect transportations. It will affect transportations including tunnels, subways, and also airports during these bad events. The government is expected to face some major challenges with the economy, because about 90 percent of the insured catastrophe losses worldwide are weather related every year. They are expectingenergy consumption to change as the demand for the electricity rises up to be able to cool down some houses and different indoor places. Some people are demanding for heating. The heating uses natural gas and fuel oils. Due to climate change, scientist says that we should expect a lot of heavy rain, a lot of storms, and we should also expect sea-level to rise a huge percent. Also there will be more hurricanes in some parts of the world. As well as more wild fires in some other parts are expected to occur in nearly all forms of transport. This includes the airports, roads, rail lines and tunnels, according to the report that people stated. The climate will have major impact on transportations. They say that the Gulf Coast is responsible for the 30 percent of the nations crude oil production and also 20 percent of its natural gas production. Which it may occur disruptions in energy production from severe weather like strong hurricanes. Also all these damages that could be occurring to certain places will affect some places more than others for example. The United States is a rich and wealthy place. These poor conditions won’t affect them as bad because they have enough money to recover. It is unfair to the other places that will be affected more than others because those are the ones who are the last ones to blame on the cause of the climate change, and they will be getting hit the hardest without no responsibility I have learned in my Economics class before. http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/16/the-economic-impact-of-climate-change/http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/16/the-economic-impact-of-climate-change/ |

Solutions You Can Engage In
One solution society can engage in is helping preserve hygienic water. There are many ways to do this. Lakes and Wetlands are sacred for drinking water or food for many animals and insects. (1)Protect resources by cleaning leaves away from gutters, also by discarding of toxic wastes properly i.e. paint, gasoline, oil. Letting dishes air dry, running clothes washers only when full, shortening your shower time by a minute or two, collecting water from roof to water plants, and fixing leaks in your home helps save water in abundance.(2)Conserving water allows less energy to be used.
Saving energy has become very easy to do, with the alternatives that have been created. Using wind energy can generate electricity and pump water, also solar energy can be used for heat and light.(4)You can save energy at home by purchasing fluorescent light bulbs, insulating your walls and ceilings, and by lowering your thermostat.(3) Saving energy on a regular basis like walking, riding a bike, and taking a train can help majorly. If the entire population engages in these solutions, future lifestyles would be balanced.

Impact on home and school community
-The impacts of climate change on boys’ and girls’ accesses to quality education have also not yet received much attention, nor have the possibilities of education to support initiatives for sustainability. We should note that impacts of climate change have more effects on women and girls life than men.
-Heat-trapping gases emitted by power plants, automobiles, deforestation and other sources are warming up the planet. In fact, the five hottest years on record have all occurred since 1997 and the 10 hottest since 1990, including the warmest years on record – 2005 and 2010. http://www.ippmedia.com/frontend/index.php?l=30822
High temperatures are to blame for an increase in heat-related deaths and illness, rising seas, increased storm intensity, and many of the other dangerous consequences of climate change.
-During the 20th century, the Earth’s average temperature rose one degree Fahrenheit to its highest level in the past four centuries – believed to be the fastest rise in a thousand years.
